The HIERONIMO Dictionary

sennet

Definition:
"a fanfare played 'within' on a 'trumpet' or 'cornet' when important figures 'enter/exit' (Dessen and Thomson 1999)
Other wind instruments or a different set of notes must be involved in the term "sennet", since at Shakespeare and Fletcher's HENRY VIII, 2.4.1, the entry stage direction reads "Trumpets, sennet, cornets"
